Elk Point Ultra Rules

Racers must:

  • Sign a waiver provided by IHU100 prior to commencing the race. You are not considered a participant without a signed waiver. 

    • 60km, 100 mile runners and pacers must sign a Fort George usage waiver at package pick up. 

  • Follow the course as marked. 

  • Only receive assistance from support crew, designated IHU volunteers at designated Transition Areas (TAs). 

  • Only receive assistance on course from another IHU runner that is currently on the same leg of the course or an IHU designated Trail Volunteer.   

    • This assistance can in no way help you in covering mileage on the course that is not on your own two feet.

  • Respect the course.

    • No littering.

    • No cache of food, water or gear along the course.

  • Not open any gates.

  • Carry the mandatory gear at all times:

  1. Filled water bottle or hydration pack 

  2. Race number visible on the front of the body (assigned at registration)

  3. Timing Chip (assigned at registration)

  4. Race Ticket 

  5. Headlamp w/new batteries (after 5:00pm)

  6. Toque or other  head cover (after 5:00pm)

  • Be respectful of all IHU volunteers, other runners, crews and spectators.

  • Respect the decisions of IHU Medical staff, Search and Rescue Volunteers, Official Race Volunteers and, or Race Directors if they feel it is unsafe for the racer to proceed (e.g. natural hazards, hypothermia, dehydration, frostbite, debilitating injury) and need to remove a racer from the race course.

  • Have your ticket and timing chip on you at all times.

  • Show your ticket and get it punched by a volunteer at every transition area.

  • If you leave the course and will not finish then you must hand in your Ticket to an IHU volunteer at the nearest transition area or to a Trail volunteer. If it is impossible to get your ticket and timing chip to us, please phone the number on your ticket.

Racers are:

  • Not permitted to run on the pavement of the Highway during Highway sections of the course and you must stay in the ditch following the quad track. 

  • Only to cross the highway and other roadways at designated marked locations when safe to do so. Watch for traffic as the highway is not closed.

  • Responsible for their own medical coverage and all costs incurred by any form of treatment or hospitalization or emergency services provided if they are injured during the race.

  • Not permitted to be accompanied by personal animals. 

    • Exceptions may be made on an individual request for certified service animals. 

  • Permitted to change distances.

  • Not permitted to upgrade to the Iron Horse ultra 100 event 100 km or 100 mile event. 

  • Not permitted a Pacer 

  • Permitted to wear headphones but we highly suggest that you drape the headphones over your shoulders so you can hear what is going on around you.  

Leg Cut off times:

  • Finish Cut off 12:00am (12 hours).

Cancelation/Bib Transfers 

  • This event is non refundable

  • Bib transfers between runners can not take place after registration deadline

  • If this event is canceled for any reason by the IHU organization. Runners can choose to defer their registration to the following year's event or receive an 80% refund.  Registered participants will be notified by email of the cancellation.
