Even though it is not actually classified as a mountain but a very large hill, but what a hill it is! We move this leg into the 100km portion so that all the soloist and teams could experience the mystic Moose Mountain. Difficult at times it also has the best view. This leg which has a little bit of everything, ATV trails, dirt roads , highway and a long stretch on the Iron Horse Trail that ends in the town of Elk Point. This is also is the turning point for the 100 km events.
Dirt and Grass Trail -approx. 45%
Iron Horse Trail – approx. 30%
Gravel Roads -approx. 20%
Other* – approx. – 5%
Other* – may consist of highway crossings, streets, creek crossings, gravel pits and etc.
*Note: The elevation change of 301 meter is displayed over 25 km which gives a steeper appearance than it actually is (although by Leg 8 it will feel this steep).
